Crehana National School showcase pupils artworksDate: 04 Apr 2012Crehana National School, Carrickbeg, Carrick on Suir, Co. Waterford is the most recent school to take part in the artist in residence programme in partnership with Waterford County Council’s Artist in Schools Scheme. Textile artist Rita Scannell worked with the pupils and staff of the school on colour theory, art techniques, individual art project and a group piece created by all the students of the school. A special exhibition evening displaying the wide range of artwork created held in the school (29/3/2012). School Principal Eithne Sheehan spoke of the importance of art in the school and in life and thanked the school staff, pupils, parents and Waterford Co. Council for partnering with the school on the scheme. Mayor Liam Brazil unveiled the group piece and congratulated all concerned. County Arts Officer, Margaret Organ congratulated all the pupils and teachers on their hard work and acknowledged the Arts Council’s role in this scheme and to the countywide arts programme. Clonea Power National School is currently taking part in the scheme with Scoil na Croise Naofa, Stradbally due to start next month.
