 Art's, Culture & Heritage

This award recognises Groups/Organisations who enhance their local areas by conserving, protecting and promoting the arts, culture and heritage of their local community through collective creative activities. Examples include; Drama, music, literature, arts, festivals, conservation and heritage.

Children & Youth

This award recognises Groups/Organisations which have a positive impact on the lives of children at a local level. Examples include; Community chidcare facilities, youth groups, sports clubs, also those working with children with additional needs and disabilities.

Community Centres & Neighbourhood Services

This award recognises Community Centres/Groups that provide a valuable service to their local community to ensure a good quality of life by enhancing a state of physical, mental and social well being. Examples include; Community Centres, community alerts, emergency/support services and sports clubs.

Environment

This award recognises Groups/Organisations working to enhance their local environment from a social or environmental perspective and creating a sense of community & pride in their local area. Examples include: Resident Associations, community development groups, tidy towns/village groups and environmental groups.

Social Enterprise

This award recognises businesses with primarily social aims and objectives, whos profits/surpluses are principally reinvested for the  purpose in the business or in the community rather than being driven by the need to maximise profit for shareholders and owners. It should also be driven by a social/environmental mission and wholly focused on the people and community they serve. Examples include; Youth and Childcare projects, community health services, arts, heritage & culture projects, media/tourism/training programmes, community enterprises,credit unions and community transport.

Social Inclusion

This award recognises Groups/Organisations that actively work in a supportive role in their communities and whose aim is to cut social exclusion and/or help to improve the quality of life for the socially excluded. Examples include; Working with the elderly, people with disabilities, ethnic, minority, travelling community, young people in transition and the homeless.
