In 2009 Rathgormack-Clonea was nominated by Waterford County Council by way of recognition of the great community spirit which has really been galvanised in the recent years since Rathgormack Hiking and Community Centre has come into existence. Judging for the competition took place this summer on the 28th July on a day when the entire community really pulled together and demonstrated to the judges at first hand their commitment and enthusiasm which were evident in abundance. The community of Glin, Co. Limerick was outright winner of this category.

Waterford County Council would like to sincerely thank the local Pride of Place committee which was set up to organise events for the judging day and to everyone who worked so hard to showcase the location at its very best. Well done one and all!
