Inclusive Facilities

Waterford County Council Library Service have made its main website more accessible and has recently and installed assistive technologies which are of benefit to those with a broad range of visual, physical or learning impairments. Assistive technologies include new Magnification suites and Kurzweil units.

ERGO Reading Aid
Ergo readers are one of the most advanced types of screen magnifier available today. It offers magnification levels from 2x to 16x providing powerful zoom windows for full-screen and partial-screen enlargement. Colour of background and text can be altered. Kurzweil 1000
Kurzweil 1000 is a scanning, reading and writing software programme for use by people who are blind or visually impaired. It works on a PC in conjunction with a flatbed scanner and synthetic speech. Scanned text is converted into speech and allows the user to listen to the text being read aloud.

Large keyboard and mouse available in Dungarvan and Tramore Libraries.

SelfCheck System at Dungarvan Central Library
The 3m SelfCheck System at Dungarvan allows borrowers enhanced control over their transactions. It is intended that this selfcheck system will streamline and manage the flow of Library materials,as well as providing for item and due date receipts, which are not provided at the issue desk.
