Design and Construction

The design of the park and its features were the work of Area Engineer, Mr Noel Healy and Town Clerk Mr Eric Flynn.   This was made so much easier by the valuable contributions of both General Services Supervisors, Mr Michael Bennett and Mr John Foley.  The principle construction work including all the stone work and the bridge was undertaken by Mr Garrett Quirke and Mr Sonny McNamara.   The paths were the forte of Mr Patrick Halley.  The park that you see today is a tribute to their skill and expertise.

The following gives a brief summary of the various features that can be found in the park:

Lismore Millennium Park GatesGates/Railings
As a person enters the park, one's first impression is of the quality and design of the gates and railings. The design was chosen to reflect the existing rich heritage in the area.  It was intended that the gates and railings would reflect and complement similar entrances in the Lismore area.

Lismore Millennium Park PathsPaths
Because of the predominance of limestone in the area, it was agreed that the paths around the park should be unique and indeed a feature in themselves.  To facilitate future maintenance, it was decided that the paths would be paved.  The paving chosen from Blanc De Bierge introduces a new and vibrant colour to the landscape of the town.
