Independent Councillor Julie Landers elected Mayor of Lismore at the Lismore Town Councils AGM on the 25th June 2012

At the AGM of Lismore Town Council last Monday night  25th June, Independent Councillor Julie Landers was elected, unopposed, as Mayor of Lismore. Mayor Landers who was first elected to Lismore Town Council in 2009 succeeds another Independent Councillor Ken Madden in the role. Cllr Landers is well known on the camogie pitch and theatrical stage in Lismore, as well as being actively involved in St. Vincent de Paul. Speaking after accepting the Chain of Office, Mayor Landers thanked all her fellow Councillors for their support since her election in 2009. She acknowledged the co-operation and help of former Town Manager Frank Curran as well as the current Town Manager Michael Quinn.  She thanked the late Eric Flynn, former Lismore Town Clerk as well as current Town Clerk Karen Hallahan for their encouragement. The new lady Mayor gave special mention to her family for their constant help, support and encouragement in all she does.  She indicated she was very much looking forward to her year as Mayor, and pledged to working tirelessly for her beloved Town. Mayor Landers pledged that a priority for her during her year as Mayor would be to keep the public toilets open, following their threatened closure earlier in 2012.
