Archive Collections

Archive Collections

Records provide evidence of our lives and document our culture. They allow for a clear account of what changes have occurred in our society and what patterns are continuously repeated. It is by studying the records of our past that we can step back and think of new approaches to our future.

Archives are the means of recording the history and cultural identity of the people of Waterford for the present and future generations. The County Archive works to preserve collections of archives relating to the history and development of Waterford County. The goal of the County Archive is not only to ensure the preservation of its records but also to make these records available to researchers both in the County and beyond.

The records of local administration are preserved and made available through the Archives Service and private paper collections of estates, businesses and organisations that contributed to the development of the County are also collected by the County Archive.
