How to Start

Before visiting the County Archive it is important to gather as much information as possible about the family. Ask your relatives for any information that they may have and check any family letters or other family records that may provide you with some clues.  Board of Guardians Waterford Union. There are three pieces of information that are vital to locating any information about your family

  1. The name of the family
  2. The townland in which they lived
  3. The approximate date that they lived there

Because most of the records are organised by townland name without this information it will be extremely difficult to track down your family.
