Molly Keane Memorial Creative Writing Award 2010 - Winner Announced



The winner of the 13th annual Molly Keane Memorial Creative Writing Award 2010, was announced during the IMMRAMA Festival of Travel Writing, Lismore Co. Waterford (12/6/10). The winning story is ‘The Driver’ by Seamus Sweeney.

Seamus Sweeney is from Dublin. He studied medicine in University College Dublin, graduating in 2002. He has published reviews and articles in the Times Literary Supplement, The Guardian, The Spectator, The Lancet, The Scotsman and on various websites. His fiction has appeared on the website Nthposition.com and in the anthology "In The Criminal's Cabinet."

He also has academic publications as Seamus Mac Suibhne, particularly on medical education and on the philosophy of psychiatry.

Seamus was presented with a cheque for €650 and a commemorative scroll by Co. Mayor Nora Flynn. Co. Arts Officer, Margaret Organ said that they had received entries from every county in Ireland and she thanked everyone who took the time to submit stories and encouraged people to try again next year.
