Dúthaigh Geal Déise

Dúthaigh Geal Déise, a project to celebrate traditional sean nós singing, has developed this website, with funding from Waterford County Council’s Arts Office, Údarás na Gaeltachta's Gaeltacht Arts Scheme and the Arts Council’s DEIS scheme. You will find information on the site on a large number of sean nós songs from the Déise area, as well as information on the traditional singing tradition in the Co. Waterford Gaeltacht of An Rinn and An Sean Phobal. The site includes song words and video clips of native traditional singers in action.

Seo suíomh idirlíon an togra amhránaíochta Dúthaigh Gheal Déise, a fuair tacaíocht airgid ó Oifig Ealaíon Chomhairle Contae Phort Láirge, togra Ealaíon na Gaeltachta de chuid Údarás na Gaeltachta agus scéim DEIS na Comhairle Ealaíne. Gheobhaidh tú eolas ar an suíomh seo maidir le mórchuid amhrán a bhaineann leis na Déise agus le traidisiún amhránaíochta Ghaeltacht na nDéise. Tá focail na n-amhrán le fáil ar an suíomh, chomh maith le físeáin de roinnt d’amhránaithe sean-nóis an cheantair agus iad i mbun amhránaíochta.

Gach Mac Máther

Gach Mac MatherOne of the main projects during 1998 was a new contemporary dance work 'Gach Mac Máthar' combining this exciting dance form with traditional singing.

With assistance from the Arts Council's Dance Commission Scheme, dance workshops were held in selected schools and public performances took place in four county venues.  Fearghus Ó Conchúir, from An Rinn choreographed and performed the work, with traditional singer Ann Mulqueen.
The work was received with great interest and enthusiasm showing that a local authority can lead the way when it comes to arts development.  The work was subsequently performed on Co. Kerry and at the forum for contemporary dance in London in January 2000.
