Workforce Development PlanThe Workforce Development Plan (, 225 kbs) was launched on 15th December 2010 by the Minister Barry Andrews. The Plan sets out the vision, challenges and opportunities for the ECCE workforce in the coming years. One of the key actions set out in the plan is the requirement for 'further and higher education and training providers to develop and implement 5 year plans to respond to issues such as flexible learning, modular delivery and quality assurance of courses. Waterford County Childcare Committee will continue to work closely with the VEC, Carlow IT and other training providers to assist in developing this plan and to ensure the training needs of childcare practitioners working in services in County Waterford are met in a flexible, accessible and affordable manner.

Local Employment ServiceWaterford Local Employment Service (LES) will provide an employment information service to assist Childcare Practitioners and Childcare Service Providers with their employment needs. This service will be open to any Childcare Practitioner seeking employment - including those currently studying for a recognised qualification or those with qualifications or experience - and to those wishing to recruit employees. The County Waterford LES has an Information (WATIS) Machine in its Dungarvan office, which enables jobseekers access details of local vacancies and training / education opportunities. The LES is a service which assists the jobseeker in taking practical steps towards securing employment by providing access to a range of employment, training and education opportunities. Important Information for Service ProvidersFor any ECCE child for whom the incorrect PPS number was furnished, a copy of their birth certificate must be furnished along with proof of PPS number. This proof can be a copy of a Drug Repayment Scheme Card, a copy of a medical card or a letter from Dept of Social Protection. For any CCS child for whom an incorrect PPS number was furnished, proof of the PPS number only needs to be furnished. For any CCS parent for whom an incorrect PPS number was furnished, proof of the PPS number only needs to be furnished. It is vital that all correspondence clearly notes the preschool ref no. on each and every piece of paper submitted.
