Our buildings, history and landscapes provide the setting for  where we live, work and enjoy recreation. These features are all part of our heritage which plays an important part in maintaining our quality of life and brings economic, social and cultural benefits to society. Taking a drive along the Copper Coast or Comeragh Mountains, walking along beaches at Clonea, Tramore or Ardmore, admiring the impressive stock of well preserved thatched houses and architectural features such as Dromana Gate and Ballysaggartmore Towers reminds us it is important to care for and maintain our county's heritage.

Waterford County Council  have a role in the conservation, enhancement and enjoyment of our heritage as promoted through the  work of the County Conservation Officer and Heritage Officer. Heritage includes archaeology, built, cultural and natural heritage and information and advice  are available  on these areas by contacting the Conservation and Heritage Officers.
