Who to contact locally?

Waterford County Council operates the Higher Education Grant Scheme each year for qualifying students resident in the administrative area of County Waterford.  In addition Waterford County V.E.C. operates such schemes as the V.E.C. Scholarship Scheme, The Third Level Maintenance Grant Scheme for Trainees (covering National Certificate and National Diploma level courses in Institutes of Technology) and the European Social Fund-Aided Maintenance Grants Scheme for students attending Post Leaving Certificate (P.L.C.) Courses.

You can email above and ask to be put on the list of people who will have information sent out to them when the current scheme is circulated by the Department of Education & Science. However, if you are already in receipt of a grant stay with your present awarding body.
The course of studies finally chosen determines which scheme is appropriate.  In practice applicants may apply either to the County Council or the V.E.C. and applications will be transferred to the appropriate office when course acceptance details are forwarded to either office.
