Housing Maintenance

Caring for your Home

It is in your own interest to ensure that your home is maintained to the best possible standards. As a general rule, you are responsible for looking after the inside of your home, together with the garden and its boundary walls, fences and gates.

Repairs to New Houses

Any snags in a new house are the responsibility of the builder for the initial 6 months. Complaints can be made to the Repairs Officer on 05820868 in the Housing Department and they will then be passed on to the appropriate builders.

New Tenant of an old property in need of repairs

The property will be inspected by our Clerk of Works who will report any repairs identified. Emergency works such as electrical or plumbing faults will be repaired before you move in and any minor works may be carried out after you move in if agreed.

Reporting Repairs

Repairs should be reported to the Repairs Officer on 05820868 where it will be logged and passed on to the appropriate person. When reporting any repair please give your name, address and contact telephone number and description of repair.
