Map Tools

The "Map Tool" toolbar controls the zoom level of the Map Window. It enables the user to zoom in or out on the map just by
clicking either the +, – or Zoom Level Indicator buttons.

Legend

This legend window details the features and the assigned styles that are visible on the current map on the Map Window.


Search Facility

This section enables you to search for a particular Townland, Planning Applications Number or Applicant Name, Application Decision Due Date and Application Received date. Select the option you wish to search for, by selecting either 'Townland', 'File Number' , 'Name Search', 'Applicant Decision Due Date' or 'Application Received Date' from the drop down list. Then type in the Townload name or the Planning Application Number or the Applicant Name or the Application Decision Due Date or Application Received Date' and click the Search button. The search details will be displayed on the Results Window.



Result Window

Townland Search
If you have selected Townland for your search a list of all place names fitting your search criteria will be displayed in the results window.

Click on the go iconicon on the Results Window and the Map Window will be refreshed to display the selected place name.

Planning Application Search

If you selected File Number a brief description of the Planning Application will be displayed.

Click on the go iconicon on the Results Window and the Map Window will be refreshed to zoom to the location of the selected planning application.

Applicant Name
If you selected Applicant Name a brief description of all the Planning Applications with the search name will be displayed.

Click on the go iconicon on the Results Window and the Map Window will be refreshed to zoom to the location of the selected planning application.
To view a more detailed description of the Planning Application click on the underlined Planning Application Number, under the File Number heading, in the Results Window. This will bring you to the ePlan enquiry screen of the selected application.


Useful Tips

Hover the cursor/mouse over the Map Window to quickly display the Townland names or Planning Application Numbers & Applicant Name.
Click on Planning Application Points or Sites on the Map Window to quickly display the details of the Planning Application in the Results Window.

How do I move the map within the Map Window?

How do I Zoom in and out of the map on the Map Window?

Simply click the -,+ or Zoom Level Indicators buttons on the Map Tools Section to zoom in and out on the map in the Map Window. There are four preset Zoom Levels with preset features on each level, as shown below. Hover the cursor/mouse over  the Map Window to quickly display Place names.

Level 1 displays the county map with the County Boundary, National and Regional Roads and the Towns/Villages.

Level 2 displays the discovery mapping with the Town/Villages, Townlands and Planning Application Points

MapLevel3 

Level 3 displays the vector mapping with the Townlands, Planning Application Points and Planning Application Sites.

MapLevel4 

Level 4 displays the 2004 aerial photography with the Planning Application Points and Planning Application Sites.


How do I search for a Townland?

SearchTownland

Select the Townland Option from the drop down list on the Search Section and type in the name of the required Townland in
the box provided. Click the Search button and the townland will be displayed in the Results Window. You can search on partial
Townland names and a list of the townlands, similar to that requested, will be displayed on the Results Window.

Then click on the go icon icon to refresh the map on the Map Window and the requested townland will be highlighted in a
turquoise colour.

How do I search for a Planning Application Number?

Select the File Number option from the drop down list box on the Search Section and type the Planning Application number in the box provided and click the search button.
A brief description of the planning application details will appear in the Results Window. Click on the go iconicon on the Results Window and the Map Window will be refreshed to show that particular Planning Application site which will be highlighted in a turquoise colour. To see a more detailed description of the Planning Application click on the Planning Application Number (under the File Number heading) on the Results Window.

How do I search for an Applicant Name?

Select the Applicant Name option from the drop down list box on the Search Section and type the Planning Applicant name in the box provided and click the search button.

Click on the go iconicon on the Results Window and the Map Window will be refreshed to zoom to the location of the selected
Planning Application.

To view a more detailed description of the Planning Application click on the underlined Planning Application Number, under the
File Number heading, in the Results Window. This will bring you to the ePlan enquiry screen of the selected application.

How do I see planning applications for a particular town/village?

The Zoom Level Indicator option automatically zooms to the centre of the current map displayed on the Map Windows.  To locate to the Town/Village that you are interested in hover the cursor/mouse over the Map Window to quickly display the correct Town/Village as shown below.

The name of the Town/Village should then be displayed.  Now select "Zoom and Centre" and click on the Town/Village as shown below.

The Map Window will zoom to the Town/Village selected.  Then just select the zoom Level you wish to see using -,+ or zoom Level Indicator buttons on the Map Tools section as below.
