UNFINISHED HOUSING DEVELOPMENTS IN COUNTY WATERFORD

Waterford County Council has established an Unfinished Estates team to assist in the completion of housing developments in County Waterford and to ensure that a good living environment is achieved for the residents.

The Planning Authority has created a register of the unfinished housing estates across the county and it is conducting preliminary assessments of the estates, with the view to preparing detailed Site Resolution Plans with developers, receivers and residents.

The estates included on the register have been categorised and a prioritised programme of works is in place for the Unfinished Estates Team.

As of June 2011, the Unfinished Estates Team has been successful in the re-commencement of construction activity on 9 estates across the county.  Such activities included the making safe of partially completed buildings, the connection on of public street lights, provision of footpaths etc.

The Council has also applied to the Department of Environment and Local Government for funding to assist in its efforts to carryout remedial actions on selected estates.

If you would like to know if your housing estate in is included on the Council’s Register and whether it should be, you can contact David Hanratty, Executive Engineer, Estates Section of the Planning Authority at dhanratty@waterfordcoco.ie or 058 22000.
