During 2011,  a total of 226  dogs were collected from the county area. 163 were strays while 63 were surrendered by their owners.  181 dogs out of the total i.e. 80% were either re-claimed or re-homed while 41 dogs i.e. 18% were humanely euthanised. These figures compare well nationally being better than average for re-homing/re-claiming and lower than average for euthanasia. Overall, the numbers of dogs collected for 2011 were higher than for 2010.
