Householders may also use Waterford County Council's Recycling Centres in Dungarvan, Tramore and Lismore for Household Hazardous waste items such as light bulbs, paint cans and batteries

 Examples of Materials Accepted   Correct Presentation    What Happens After Recycling?
Aluminium Cans (Drinks Cans). Clean, dry and flattened.  Drinks cans are recycled into new aluminium drinks cans
Cardboard (Cereal Boxes) Clean, dry and flattened. Cardboard is generally made into new cardboard boxes.  If your cardboard has been soiled by food waste (eg pizza boxes) these can be placed in your Organic 'Brown' Bin.
Newsprint (magazines & Newspapers) Please ensure they are dry and clean. Magazines and newspapers may make glossy paper. When newspaper is recycled on its own it can be made into egg boxes and cardboard. 
Plastic containers, bottles and wrappers (Shampoo bottles, milk bottles and fruit punnets) Please wash and squash plastic bottles
Plastic bottles are generally recycled into polyester fibre for carpets and clothes. Milk and shampoo bottles are recycled into plastic bags or hard furniture-tpye plastics.
Steel food cans (Dog food cans, bean cans) Clean, dry and flattened. Steel food cans are recycled into new steel cans and other steel products
'Tetrapak' cartons (juice cartons, milk cartons, cartons with a waxy coating). Clean, dry and flattened. Tetra Pak cartons can be recycled into a variety of things including mouse mats, briefcases and new paper products
Textiles (old clothes etc) Textiles should be dry and clean. Please bag these in separate recycling sacks and have the appropriate sticker attached. Textiles are reused and recycled. Good clothes are sold to European clothes markets. Other materials may be made into table mats or tea towels.
