Waterford Energy Bureau

Waterford Energy Bureau (WEB) is the local Energy Agency for Waterford City and County.

Based at the Waterford County Council offices in Tramore, we provide a range of energy management, energy conservation and renewable energy services to the general public, to businesses and to both Local Authorities of Waterford.

General Objectives of Waterford Energy Bureau

The bureau activities target sustainable energy issues and projects important to Waterford City and County.

• Undertake programmes of specific actions and implement plans for Waterford City and County in energy related issues.
• Address energy economic issues with an integrated approach to energy development in the City and County of Waterford.
• To promote the efficient and rational use of energy (electricity, oil, solid fuel etc.)
• To provide an impartial energy information and assessment service to the general public.
• Source funding where applicable for energy related projects.
• Advise both local authorities of Waterford on energy procurement, efficiency and renewable energy technology issues.

The Waterford Energy Bureau seeks to actively become involved in projects that fit within its mission and objectives.

The Waterford Energy Bureau is one of 15 Regional Energy Agencies situated throughout the Island of Ireland.

Biofuel

Biofuel, which includes bio-ethanol, bio-diesel and rapelium from oil seeds, have significant potential in replacing fossil fuel imports such as oil and diesel. The use of this form of fuel & technology is well developed. Duty/tax exemption on certain biofuels already exists, making the conversion of certain vehicles to run on bio fuels feasible. Biofuels are regarded as being CO2 free whereby emissions are absorbed by the following years crop growth.
