Grant Schemes for Home Owners
Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland, “SEAI”, which is the national Authority on matters relating to energy are currently running a number grant schemes for different sectors for energy efficiency and renewable energy technology.
The decision by the Commission for Energy Regulation to increase gas prices by more than 20%, makes the installation of energy efficiency and renewable energy technology more cost effective, as the pay backs through installation of such technologies will become shorter. To date 4,500 houses within Waterford have received grant assistance for energy efficiency measures and in excess of 720 homes have installed a form of renewable technology such as solar water heating etc.
The grant schemes operating nationally are;
Warmer Homes Scheme and Better Energy Homes Scheme
Information on the “National Insulation Grant Schemes” (Better Energy Homes Scheme and Warmer Homes Scheme) are currently given in the “PDF” document, which can be downloaded. Both these schemes are available to home owners of Waterford and there has been significant uptake in both the schemes to date.
