The Suir Catchment Flood Risk Assessment and Management Study ( Suir CFRAM Study ) is being undertaken by the Office of Public Works as part of the Government's new catchment-based approach to  flood risk management. The study has been designed to deliver on key elements of the national flood policy as well as the EU Directive on the Assessment and Management of Flood Risk.

The Suir CFRAM Study is being prioritised ahead of the national implementation programme and will identify and map areas of existing and potential future flood risk within the Suir Catchment and develope a strategic long-term plan for the overall management of flood risk within the catchment.

Waterford County Council and the other relevant Local Authorities in the Suir Catchment are Project Partners of the OPW in respect of this overall project and are represented on its Steering Group.

Water Services

Local Authorities were required to prepare an updated Assessment of Needs for water services capital works in their administrative areas in 2006 in view of the scale of development in recent years.  The last such assessment by Waterford County Council was undertaken in 2004.  It covered the period 2003-2006, and has provided the basis for scheme approval and scheduling under successive Water Services Investment Programmes.

In order to measure progress since the last assessments were completed, and to facilitate phased advancement of the Investment Programme up to and during the next National Development Plan 2007 – 2013, this report identifies a new Assessment of Needs.
