Dungarvan Water supply is sourced from two well fields. The main well field is at Ballynamuck and consists of 4 no. boreholes of varying depths. This source provides the bulk of the water demand and a second source located at Springmount, Dungarvan is used to augment the supply at certain times of the year. Ballinamuck well field produces circa 270 m3/hr of water and delivers this via a 300mm rising main to Dungarvan storage tower which has a capacity of 1100m3 and a top water level of 47.58 mOD.. The second water source is a well/spring located at the Spring, Dungarvan and consists of duty and standby 30 kW Pleuger pumps which pump directly to the distribution system. Capacity of the pumps is 100m3/hr and 125m3/hr respectively. This source is a standby and occasional augmentation during peak daily demand. Treatment consists of chlorination and fluoridation at each well field |
