Dungarvan Water supply is sourced from two well fields. The main well field is at Ballynamuck and consists of 4 no. boreholes of varying depths. This source provides the bulk of the water demand and a second source located at Springmount, Dungarvan is used to augment the supply at certain times of the year. 

Ballinamuck well field produces circa 270 m3/hr of water and delivers this via a 300mm rising main to Dungarvan storage tower which has a capacity of 1100m3 and a top water level of 47.58 mOD..
This well field is tapped into the Waulsortian limestone of the Lismore/ Dungarvan syncline and is capable of producing 8,200 m3/d of satisfactory water based on a pump test carried out in 2005. The water is of good quality though hard. Field data collected for the County Waterford Water Conservation Project (2005) indicates that the source input to the Dungarvan supply is approximately 5,600 m3/d.  This is primarily met by supply from the Ballynamuck well field where a single duty pump can produce 6,480 m3/d when run continuously.
A 350Kva generator back up is also installed at Ballinamuck. The power available from the E.S.B. network (Import capacity) is adequate to run two pumps simultaneously, as is the on site generation.

The second water source is a well/spring  located at the Spring, Dungarvan and consists of duty and standby 30 kW Pleuger pumps which pump directly to the distribution system. Capacity of the pumps is 100m3/hr and 125m3/hr respectively. This source is a standby and occasional augmentation during peak daily demand.

Treatment consists of chlorination and fluoridation at each well field
Waterford County Council have carried out ground water investigation in 2006 and 2007 to investigate if suitable sources are available to augment the water supply to Dunagrav & environs (including options to supply Ring/Helvick and Deelish /Ballynacourty zones).
It is now intended to appoint a consulting Engineer to Prepare a Preliminary report  for the Dungarvan Water Supply.
