Dungarvan is the main town to the west of Waterford city located at the mouth of the Colligan river, Dungarvan has the beautiful Comeragh Mountains as a background. The town's original Irish name of Dun Garbhan takes its name from Saint Garbhann who founded a church here in the seventh century. The Normans built a large fortification in the 13th century. The fifth and sixth Dukes of Devonshire decided to replan the town in the nineteenth century.
