Waterford County Council's Enforcement Team carryout both planned and unplanned inspections in the following areas:

- Packaging Regulations
- Backyard Burning
- Plastic Bag Levy
- WEEE Regulations
- Tyre Regulations
- Food Waste Regulations
- End of Life Vehicle Regulations
- Farm Plastic Regulations
- Solvents Regulations
- Deco Paint Regulations
The Enforcement Team undertakes the following work to ensure increased compliance with the environmental legislation highlighted above:
- Inspections and investigations into various environmental complaints
- Scheduled inspections in accordance with our Annual Environmental Inspection Plan
- Surveillance and evidence collection.
- Road checkpoints with An Garda Siochana and neighbouring local authorities.
- Responding to complaints from the general public ranging from illegal dumping, littering, backyard burning , non compliance with waste permit and general waste enforement.
- Inspections on commercial premises to ensure compliance with all aspects of waste legislation.
- Regular inspection of permitted sites & premises to ensure compliance with the specified conditions.
- Environmental Enforcement Officers undertake regular patrols throughout the county.
The enforcement team work ensure a high level of compliance with environmental legislation with regard to both the commercial and domestic sectors.
