09 May 2012 - "Bin it your way" Ireland Makes a Move on Gum Litter -

The 2012 Gum Litter Taskforce (GLT) National Gum Litter Environmental Awareness campaign was launched in Dublin last week by the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government Mr Phil Hogan TD and the Lord Mayor of Dublin Andrew Montague. This national campaign aims to reduce littered gum in the most sustainable way; by changing irresponsible disposal behaviour – the root cause of the issue – by encouraging the public to dispose of their gum responsibly.

10 Feb 2012 - “Evaluation of Regional Waste Management Plans” SOUTH EAST WASTE MANAGEMENT REGION

Evaluation of the Joint Waste Management Plan for the South East Region 2006. This is to advise that the South East Waste Management Region (consisting of Carlow County Council, Kilkenny County Council, South Tipperary County Council, Waterford City Council, Waterford County Council and Wexford County Council) has commenced an evaluation of the Joint Waste Management Plan for the South East Region 2006 and, consequent on this evaluation, the Plan will be revised or replaced as necessary to comply with the Waste Framework Directive (2008/98/EC) transposed through the European Communities (Waste Directive) Regulations, 2011 (S.I. 126 of 2011). The existing Joint Waste Management Plan for the South East Region 2006 must be evaluated by 31st December, 2012.

08 Feb 2012 - Waste Collection Permits 2012-changes applicable to New Permits and Renewals

From the 1st of February 2012, all new waste collection permit applications and applications for the review of waste collection permits will be processed by the National Waste Collection Permit Office (NWCPO).

10 Nov 2011 - Wetlands Remediation Project - Ballygunnermore / Castletown / Kilmacleague

Waterford County Council would like to inform residents of the Ballygunnermore, Castletown and Kilmacleague areas that they will shortly commence works on the remediation of wetlands in these areas. Residents of these areas are invited to an Open Evening which will be held on Tuesday 15th November 2011 in Ballygunner NS (St. Mary’s) between 5pm and 8pm where the project team will be on hand to provide additional information and to answer queries.

Waterford County Council invited local photography enthusiasts to take part in our Blue Flag Beach Photography Competition in August 2011. This photography competition was aimed at promoting Waterford County Council’s Blue Flag Beach Campaign. Entrants were advised to highlight the positive benefits that a Blue Flag Beach status brings to our beaches that are enjoyed by all.The competition was open to both adults (18 years and over) and juniors (under 18 years)
