Ceol sa Rang for County Waterford Schools

Waterford County Council’s Arts Office, as part of its Artist in Schools Scheme, is hosting ‘Ceol sa Rang’ workshops in February 2011 in Gaelscoileanna in County Waterford.

'Ceol sa Rang' was established in 2009 as a traditional music education initiative for primary schools. Through class workshops pupils are introduced to the basic elements of Irish Traditional music and dance, maintaining an interactive and fun approach. These workshops are designed to spark an interest in our native music and dance traditions, while also fulfilling all music curricular necessities. The ‘Ceol sa Rang’ team comprises of TG4’s Young Musician of the Year 2010, Aidan O’Donnell from Donegal and Alan Colfer, a well-known guitar and harmonica player from Tramore. Their website http://www.ceolsarang.come/ is designed both as a tool for teachers and a place where children can learn more about our musical and dance tradition as a follow-up to the workshop.

To support the work done by Gaelscoileanna/Gaeltacht schools in the County the County Arts Office in association with the Irish Office of Waterford County Council is facilitating the following schools with this project as gaeilge during February 2011.
